Jessica Whatham

Jessica was born and raised on Sydney's Northern Beaches and began practicing Bikram Yoga at 14 years old. Since then she has travelled, lived, and practiced Bikram Yoga in London and the United States.
 
After studying Business and Nutrition Jessica felt that something was still missing and in 2009 Jessica became a certified Bikram Yoga instructor. Jessica began her teaching career in the USA, teaching in studios in Miami and in the North Eastern USA. In 2013 Jessica moved back to Sydney and is very much at home back on the Northern Beaches.

Bikram Yoga is something that has always provided a sound body and mind for Jessica and she loves that as a teacher she can share those same benefits with her students.

Katie Standring

Studio owner Katie has been teaching Bikram Yoga since 2005, the longest serving teacher at the studio.
 
In a previous life Katie spend 20 years working as a Sales and Marketing professional in London.
 
When she first came to Bikram Yoga the hardest challenge was to simply lay still! Despite feeling uncomfortable both physically and mentally during her first few classes something kept her going back for more. She soon started to feel more connected with her true self and her life purpose.  Losing weight and becoming more flexible was a welcomed extra! After just one year of regular bikram practice she knew she wanted to teach!

Katie has been fortunate enough to have taught in some of the biggest studios in London, California and Sydney.

In 2007 Katie met Martin. Together they shared a dream to create a Bikram Yoga Studio which was full of love and to inspire people to improve their health and happiness. In 2012 Bikram Yoga Northern Beaches was opened. 

Katie loves 'holding space' for deep healing and transformation. In addition to teaching Bikram yoga, managing the studio  (with Martin) Katie teaches Yin Yoga and runs Yoga Retreats in Bali.

Known for her compassion and gentle teaching style, she also has has a no-nonsense approach to life and believes that anything is possible with passion, clear intention and love.  

Katie has an amazing ability to connect with students whilst encouraging them to keep on sweating and smiling!

Alison Roberts

Alison limped into her first Bikram Yoga class in 2001, walked out limp free and hasn’t looked back since.
 
While she came to Yoga to (successfully) avoid a hip replacement, she discovered the benefits to her overall health and wellbeing surpassed anything she had tried before. She quit the gym and became a dedicated Bikram Yoga practitioner.

Alison completed her Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in 2012 and she has a range of experience from her time as a gymnast, gymnastics’ coach, karate student and fitness/aerobics instructor that enriches her understanding of human physiology. 

And not only that, Alison is also the founder of the DETOX a yoga mat purifying spray that we sell at the Studio!

Martin Standring

Studio owner, Martin aka 'the Boss' certified in 2007 and is an inspirational and popular teacher. With over 3000 classes Martin has taught in some of the busiest studios in both England and Australia.

Before discovering Bikram Yoga Martin spent 14 years as a Fire Fighter. He was also a keen sportsman and was a self-confessed gym junkie! Due to the intense sports activities over a number of years Martin suffered serious knee injuries, which lead to arthritis in his knees and ongoing problems with his back and hips until one day is he was persuaded to try a Bikram class.

Back in those days Martin had very little flexibility and was unable to do many of the postures, which frustrated him, but he loved the complete body work out. He says that it was one of the hardest, most challenging things he had ever done in his life! After 5 weeks of regular practice he noticed his knees were pain free and the discomfort in his back and hips had eased. More than that something was happening internally. Through a regular Bikram practice he is a much calmer, happier person. 

Martin and his wife Katie met in the hot room and work as a great team.

Martin is one of the most popular teachers and its easy to see why. He teachers with humour and lightness whilst giving students an authentic 'dialogue' class every time.  

Martin also managers the yoga studio and he is available for students and teaches 7 days a week.

Barbara Pickova

Barbara grew up surrounded by a sporty family and has always been active and enjoyed sports, but it wasn't until she tried Bikram Yoga that she truly found herself. "I found something that makes me feel good from the inside out..... and the best thing is that great feeling doesn's stop!"

 

Barabara has practising Bikram yoga daily since 2006. She completed her teacher training in Spring of 2007 and taught in Singapore for two years before returning to Australia, where she spent six months teaching at a newly opened Bikram studio in Noosa.

 

Now she has returned back to Sydney where she first started and where she feels she belongs the most. "I am thrilled to teach alongside so many amazing teachers here. Teaching is my daily passion and I'm blessed to be able to share something I love with others around me".

Bikram Yoga the Hottest yoga in town! But more specifically, it’s a therapeutic hatha yoga sequence of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises conducted in a heated studio, and suitable for all levels including beginners.

Bikram Yoga classes are 90 minutes. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to class time for check-in.
