Paul Gerrard

Paul’s first yoga class was in London, fourteen years ago. It was Bikram-method and the benefits were immediate, especially to his long-standing injuries. Having broken both legs, damaged his knees and locked his hips from twenty years of playing sport, he felt that it was time to get well! Yoga helped him more than any therapist or treatment, and he felt calmer and happier from practicing the twenty-six postures and two breathing exercises. In 2006, Paul trained as a Bikram Yoga Instructor and subsequently taught in the UK, USA and Asia before living in Australia. Paul’s teaching is also certified and accredited by The Yoga Alliance, following 1500 hours of additional training. Paul’s journey towards yoga was a natural progression having graduated (B.A. 1st. hons.) in movement and drama studies. Apart from teaching yoga, Paul has worked as an actor, presenter and voice coach for twenty years and integrate my skills with The Raja Yoga Academy, coaching voice classes and assisting future instructors. The academy is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for teacher trainees, placing emphasis on therapeutic teaching. Through honest and respectful communication, the academy’s aim is to inspire ethical, compassionate and confident leaders. When teaching, Paul cares deeply about the following questions. Are you practicing yoga or stress? Does the way you practice yoga rejuvenate or deplete your body? Are you creating unnecessary tension and pushing to a point that is more harmful than therapeutic? Paul’s passion is to assist students in remaining calm and grounded, so that they bring consciousness to the triad of breath, movement and stillness as they practice—initiating healing through the nervous system.   • BIKRAM YOGA - 90 min
  • Bikram Yoga is the Hottest yoga in town! But more specifically, it’s a therapeutic hatha yoga sequence of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises conducted in a heated studio, and suitable for all levels including beginners.

    Bikram Yoga classes are 90 minutes. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to class time for check-in.
