About Bikram Yoga
Welcome to Bikram Yoga Northern Beaches! We invite you to join us for the rest of your life and see a total body and mind transformation.
Bikram Yoga is a series of 26 Hatha Yoga postures and two breathing exercises designed to provide a challenging, invigorating, rejuvenating and effective yoga experience.
Conducted in a heated room, Bikram Yoga detoxifies the body through perspiration, and tones the muscles. In 90 minutes you work everything from, “bones to your skin and fingertips to you toes”. Whatever your age, injury, or prior yoga experience (if any at all), this yoga will benefit your body and mind in ways you never imagined possible!
Focus60 class is an fun and energising 60 minute class that follows the standard Bikram sequence with a few minor differences.
Whilst new Bikram students are welcome, the class is ideally suited to those who have experienced the full 90 minute Bikram sequence first. As the Focus60 class moves quickly an understanding of the foundation postures of Bikram is an advantage in the shortened timeframe of the Focus60 class.
Focus60 includes all postures in the 90 minute class but provides for students to focus on working deeply as the shortened class time requires less overall energy expenditure.
Focus60 is not intended to replace your regular 90 minute class, but can be seen as a ‘top up’ for those who are time poor.
Bikram Yoga Northern Beaches Focus60 classes are conducted in the same heated studio as our normal Bikram classes and run for 60 minutes each.
Focus60 classes are covered under your standard membership package.
ABOUT YIN YOGA
Yin Yoga is a restorative yoga class that will nurture your body and mind. Practiced in a warm room, Yin Yoga will challenge you in a completely different way. Designed to open and stretch the body through holding postures for longer duration than typical yoga classes. Incorporating the use of blocks and bolsters to support and allow for relaxation and deep therapeutic release.
Yin Yoga is a great complement to Bikram Yoga.
Set to mellow music, this 75 minute class will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Yin is suitable for all levels and is especially beneficial for injury recovery, stress relief and improving flexibility. Yin Yoga works on the deep connective tissues and fascia to release tension and increase flexibility.
Why So Hot?
Bikram yoga and Focus60 classes are practiced in a hot room for a very good reason. The studio is kept at approximately 105°F (40°C) and 60% humidity. The heat warms up your body allowing you to stretch into the postures (Asanas) in a safer environment. The combined heat and humidity also promote sweating which in turn flushes toxins from the body.
